Curiously, as the TEX installations get so much more technically complicated, the main direction of the development is clear : from the user’s perspective, everything is getting so much simpler. On my Mac, I download MacTeX (which includes TEXShop and TEX Live). qui m’a rendu l’auteur sympathique, et j’ai cherché si d’autres articles de Grätzer pouvaient aider les débutants.

J’ai trouvé

A gentle learning curve for LaTeX

Cet article mérite d’être lu par toute personne qui s’apprête à rédiger un document en LaTeX mais n’a que peu de connaissances de ce programme.

Grätzner cite l’application Photoshop qui elle aussi nécessite un apprentissage non négligeable. Pour bien apprendre Photoshop, on peut
acheter un vraiment bon manuel
souscrire aux vidéos (tutoriels d’apprentissage de Photoshop).

Ceci a inspiré Grätzner qui a conçu 9 vidéos d’initiation à LaTeX. Je viens de les regarder et elles offrent un appui précieux au débutant en montrant le code source et sa version compilée, en provoquant et en commentant les erreurs courantes de débutants.

Si l’on n’a pas à côté de soi quelqu’un qui connaît LaTeX et qui peut vous sortir du pétrin, on ne perd certainement pas son temps à regarder ces vidéos.

Click on download for mil4-video-presentations.zip and you get a folder mil4-video-presentations containing nine video presentations. The first presentation helps you get the sample files you will work with and two pdf files :
ShortCourse.pdf and SymbolTables.pdf

Eight lectures introduce the basic LATEX topics :
Typing text ;
Typing math (four lectures) ;
Articles (two lectures) ;
Final comments.

At the end of each lecture, the relevant part of the Short Course (in the file ShortCourse.pdf) is referenced, where you can read the same material (and some more). And the Short Course has a very detailed index. Since it is a pdf file, it is also searchable !

You should keep SymbolTables.pdf handy. It contains the names of all LATEX commands for math and text symbols.

I think that based on the lectures and the Short Course, you should be 90% ready to write your first paper. The remaining 10% depends on your field of speciality and the complexity of your writing. »
