Sigla

The first heading includes the publication sigla and its number (3 digits)

The sigla used are those of the Checklist of Editions of Greek, Latin, Demotic and Coptic Papyri, Ostraca and Tablets.

As regards the texts not included in the main editions, the designation adopted in the publication is used. Re-editions and re-publications are indicated after the mention of the first edition and preceded by the sign =.

Trismegistos number

Number of the document in the Trismegistos database.

Inventory number

the third field indicates where the document is kept, the collection and the inventory number.

Material

the fourrth heading is devoted to the support of the text : papyrus, ostracon (fragment of pottery), limestone (stone ostracon) or, less often, parchment, wooden tablet, …

Dialect

The fifth heading indicates the dialect of the text. The main distinction has been made between Sahidic (S) and Fayoumic (F).

Origin

The place where the text has been found.

Date

the seventh heading is devoted to the date of the text. Unfortunately, Coptic documents only very rarely contain this type of data and dates based on paleography are seldom given.

the eighth field is devoted to the description of the content of the document. First mentioned is the type of the said document.
