Marie Dierckx is a geological engineer (Université
de Liège - ULg). After her master thesis in
collaboration with the Laboratoire de Glaciologie
(ULB), she started a PhD in glaciology in october
2008. She works on the IceCube-Dyn project, who
gathers different areas with a part about
deformation of ice in Antarctica. The aim of her
PhD is to better understand the mechanical
properties of ice and to determine the factors
controlling the deformation. She works under the
supervision of Prof. Jean-Louis
Tison for the experimental part. Her research
is based on ice deformation experiments to
improve current ice-flow models, with a better
parametrization of viscosity and flow laws, in
collaboration with Laura
Perichon. |
