Lars Zipf

Lars Zipf completed his master's degree in physics at Heidelberg University (Germany) in 2017. Main focus of his master studies was environmental physics, particularly atmospheric physics and glaciology.
In October 2018, he started a PhD supervised by Prof. Frank Pattyn at the Laboratoire de Glaciologie (ULB) in the framework of PARAMOUR (FNRS EOS). He will specifically focus on initialization of ice sheet models (f.ETISh, BISICLES) and investigate the potential global predictability of ice sheet models for Antarctica. Particular attention will be paid to the impact of initial conditions and basal processes on other components of the system at decadal time scales.
Within the PARAMOUR project, he will be part of a coupled Ice-Ocean-Atmosphere model team and will contribute to the analysis of the interactions between the ice shelves, the ocean and the atmosphere, and to the evaluation of their impact on the variability and predictability of the system.
