General information

Introduction and objectives

Presentation

The Centre d'étude de la vie politique (Cevipol) is a research centre of the Institute of European Studies and of the Faculty of social, political and economical sciences/Solvay Business School of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Its main concern is fundamental research, but it is also involved in teaching and popularisation activities aimed towards the general public.

The Cevipol consists of permanent researchers (professors, assistant-professors, post-doc, PhD students), of 'associated members'  from sister disciplines (sociology, law, history) and of correspondents from other universities.

Objectives

The Cevipol's main aim is to produce fundamental research by supervising doctoral thesis, writing scientific papers and books, and organising seminars and conferences.

Through empirical research, Cevipol contributes to the elaboration of databases on political life. In particular, let us mention European electoral results, political actors (political parties, trade unions, lobbies...).

At the same time, Cevipol is involved in popularising its research results. In the framework of its missions of services to society, it takes an active part in continuing

education (conferences, training) and summarises its works destined towards political, social and media circles.

In the framework of the University's teaching missions, is notably an active protagonist in the support to students (PhD dissertations, MA thesis, doctoral seminars...) by collecting useful information pertaining to the relevant fields of study. The latter service is of course open to researchers of other universities.
